About the school

The school is a fully mixed comprehensive school from 11-16 years of age, with 600 on roll. The school has rapidly established a very strong reputation in the area and is now consistently oversubscribed. In addition, the school recently received its Ofsted report from May 2022, which graded the school as "good" with outstanding features.
One of the school's key strengths is its highly cohesive and supportive community. As such, the decision to cap student numbers at 600 is entirely deliberate, enabling them to maintain a strong sense of community where everybody knows everybody else - if you visit, you cannot fail to be struck by this. It is a very special part of who they are.
The post offers a genuine opportunity to work in a school community that changes the lives of the young people they care for.

The Creative Arts department is a beacon of excellence across the school. All students study Music for 2 lessons a fortnight at Key Stage 3, and we are excited to see this subject grow into Key Stage 4. The Music department has some excellent resources, including class sets of ukelele's, keyboards, rhythm sticks, drums and much more. The Creative Arts Department regularly presents exciting shows, most recently the Christmas Concert. They are delighted, also, to have grown Music across the school with many students attending Music clubs; however, there is also an opportunity for a colleague to grow this further and make it their own. In addition, they have recently grown the number of students taking 1-21 Music lessons, including vocal, drums, and guitar.

This school is proud to be a genuinely comprehensive school, with students and staff from different religions and several languages spoken in the school. They recognise and celebrate what makes them unique and different and acknowledge that they are also part of one community. Their aim is for everybody to feel valued and respected and they strive hard to ensure they create a positive culture within the school to enable this to happen.
