Role Overview:
As a Custody Nurse/Paramedic, you will provide autonomous care, ensuring the wellbeing of detainees and police staff. You’ll carry out healthcare assessments, manage minor injuries, and determine fitness for detention, interviews, transfer, or release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Treat and manage minor injuries/illnesses
  • Perform clinical exams on police officers/staff injured while on duty
  • Collect specimens for legal purposes
  • Provide statements and testimony as required for court
  • Conduct alcohol and drug intoxication testing
  • Undertake mental health and learning disability assessments

Person Specification:
Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (General/Mental Health) or Paramedic
  • NMC/HCPC registration
  • Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience
  • Current Police Vetting (mandatory)
  • Venipuncture skills
  • Must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
  • Experience in A&E, ITU, EAU, SAU, Nurse Practitioner roles, or as drug & alcohol workers (other nursing backgrounds considered)
  • Valid UK driving license with access to a vehicle

Desirable:

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with innovative practices

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will need to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
