We are working with one of the fastest-growing maker of traditional nomadic yurts in the South West. Due to exciting growth plans we are seeking a passionate Industrial Sewing Machinist - Yurt Cover Maker to join their talented hands-on team.

Based in brand new premises within beautiful Buckfastleigh. This company is driven by a vision of artisanship, wellness, entrepreneurialism and high quality at the core, supplying hand-made Yurts to the UK and beyond!

Working in a tight-knit team, your main responsibility will be producing (and repairing) a wide variety of bespoke small/medium/large canvas covers, linings and accessories for Yurts and other structures.

Full training will be given on all processes, designs & products.

More about you:

You have at least 2 years practical experience in domestic or industrial sewing, using a walking foot industrial sewing machine (training will also be provided).

You are comfortable working in a small business, where time, budget and slick operations is critical, and things change frequently.

You demonstrate tenacity and the willingness to go the extra mile, comfortable working to (sometimes tight) deadlines with high levels of integrity to always produce high-quality finish.

You have excellent attention to detail, and good hand to eye co-ordination whilst working with speed and accuracy.

You have a passion and interest for design, tents, yurts, the outdoors and problem solving.

Key Requirements:

Experienced domestic sewing skills (essential)

2 years experience using a walking foot industrial sewing machine (desirable)

Knowledge of various sewing techniques and able to work with a variety of fabrics - delicate to heavy (Regentex, Campshield, wool felt, polycotton to name but a few)

Physically fit, as some of the covers are large and heavy!

Good verbal, communication and analytical skills, working well in a small team and collaborating with colleagues in making our products the best they can be.

Excellent attention to detail, able to work with speed and accuracy.

Flexible and energetic, sometimes things change, and you need to be able to adapt.

Hands on, not only will you be making covers you will also be part of a team putting yurts up and down.

Tidy and organised, and keeping the workshop safe for yourself and others

Methodical, keeping records, tracking and maintaining your production

Salary on offer dependent on experience.
