Senior Project Manager (DataCenters)

We are working with a worldwide engineering business that has been manufacturing products in critical infrastructure sectors for over 50 years. They are at the front of research and development with a significant focus in product design and cutting-edge development which is supported and pioneered by revolutionary engineering and personnel.

We are looking for a an experienced Project Manager to manage recently secured Data Centre projects with different key customers.The Project Manager will be expected to spend a considerable amount of time on site depending on how works are progressing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and develop project programme and ensure its milestones/targets are achieved within the scheduled timelines
  • Coordinate design work with the Data Centre operator, design consultants, architect, contractors and subcontractors working alongside the Data Centre Technical Team
  • Coordinate with factories , suppliers and sub-contractors as well as other entities supporting the project
  • Supporting the Global Account Director and Project Management Team to ensure smooth and timely flow of information between all parties and stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit project documentation in accordance with contract timelines and requirements including Technical Submittals
  • Identify and predict potential pitfalls, risks or delays and action remedies to ensure the project is brought back to programme
  • Keeping the project stakeholders informed of progress, cost and any other relevant issues
  • Review project scope, and manage the budget and schedule
  • Support ensuring the project margin is delivered or improved
  • Participate in design reviews internal and with external stakeholders
  • Manage Health and Safety aspects of the project in accordance with company, client and site procedures and standards/requirements
  • Managing the site services element of the scope of works which will necessitate having a presence on site for prolonged periods, being the primary site contact for all stakeholders
  • Produce and manage the implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements applicable to the scope of works
  • Produce and manage client specific paperwork including uploading all required documents to the client/GC portals, etc as and when required
  • Manage Commissioning Resource and Sub-Contractors where applicable
  • Working with the Commissioning Manager to ensure processes are in place, being followed and completed to a high standard
  • Agree valuations and final accounts with contractors and sub-contractors
  • Review issues to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities for increased revenue and profitability, including design improvements , enhancements and reclaim costs for additional works/damages/significant standing time on site

You Will:

  • Hold a relevant 3rd level Qualification (Electrical/Mechanical Engineering - or strong trades background); Ideally Electrical bias with good knowledge of Mechanical aspects
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a project management role with the Data Centre sector
  • Possess strong operational skills and attention to detail, and experience of the design-build process, and Levels operated on Data Centre projects
  • Be computer literate with strong IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Project
  • Having a strong technical background in HVAC is essential for this role experience in managing the supply of equipment and services in the Data Centre sector is highly desirable
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of electrical/mechanical fundamentals is essential
  • Proficient in the English language (spoken, written, technical).
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Competent at liaising with multi-discipline and international teams
  • Capable of prioritising tasks, co-ordinating and delivering the project on time
