We have a permanent Senior Electrical Project Engineer role available within the TATA Steel Engineering department. This role is ideal for someone with strong electrical engineering expertise and a passion for leading projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project-engineering support for capital expenditure, process improvements, and plant enhancement initiatives.

  • Oversee all stages of projects from initial concept to full implementation and operation.

  • Lead a team of project engineers, design draughtsmen, and contractors, ensuring adherence to safe working practices.

  • Manage design, development, procurement, installation, and commissioning aspects of projects.

  • Prepare governance structures, project plans, and detailed progress reports.

  • Develop detailed electrical engineering specifications for plant and process improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with Tata Engineering Standards, HSE guidance, and industry codes of practice.

  • Provide engineering and technology support to plant engineers and manufacturing teams.

  • Maintain awareness of industry advancements and apply knowledge to ongoing professional development.

  • Produce project reports to ensure transparency of scope, timelines, financials, and risks.

  • Compile cost and resource forecasts for projects.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree or HND/HNC qualification in electrical engineering or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience as an electrical engineer.

  • Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental Management & Legislation.

  • Excellent budget management skills.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively at all levels within an organisation.

Desirable requirements:

  • Prince '2' qualification (or equivalent project management certification).

  • Experience in capital project planning and implementation.

  • Knowledge of Machinery Regulations and CDM regulations.

  • Familiarity with SAP budgetary control and capital authorisation procedures.

  • Understanding of Tata Steel contract conditions and procurement commercial terms.

  • Experience with electrical technologies in continuous strip coating lines and cold rolling operations.
