Job Description: The NDT Specialist will perform nondestructive testing (NDT) examinations on both composite and metallic aircraft materials, components, and structures. This role requires the specialist to work with a high degree of autonomy within a small, dedicated team. The position reports functionally and operationally to the NDT Group Leader in Broughton.
Key Responsibilities: The NDT Specialist will conduct nondestructive testing across all business areas. They must maintain technical requirements, which include controlling documentation, providing continuation training for operational areas, conducting operational surveillance, supplying NDT reports to allow concessions to be raised, and formulating and reviewing instructions. The specialist will also provide line side support and Andon support directly to operations. Additional responsibilities include supporting PPS and external/internal audits, contributing to concession reduction projects, and performing performance checks on in-house NDT instrumentation. The specialist must maintain their personal approvals in accordance with the applicable NDT certification scheme and in line with business requirements.
Required Skills: The ideal candidate must hold an EN4179 (or equivalent) Level 2 qualification in Eddy Currents or Ultrasonic. They should have experience with testing and inspection methods for both composite and metallic materials. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. The candidate must be capable of working autonomously as well as part of a small team. Strong organizational skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and flexibility are required to meet the tight deadlines demanded of the team. Experiance within the aviation/aerospace industry is beneficial but not required.
