Job Specification: QEHS Manager
Job Summary
This role is to drive our client’s Transport business in achieving the best possible health, safety, environmental, quality, and assurance standards in accordance with UK legislation, European Directives, our client’s operational requirements, and client standards. The Manager of QEHS will lead a team to drive and maintain industry best practices, minimize the potential for injury, and promote business efficiency by implementing robust health and safety management systems and fostering an industry-leading health and safety culture.
Key Deliverables
The key deliverables of this role are as follows:
Provide a high level of Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (QEHS) support for our client’s Asset Management suppliers operating within the Metro and Rail environments.
Ensure compliance with all QEHS legislation, customer and stakeholder QEHS requirements (including contractors and suppliers), and industry best practices by implementing relevant policies and safe working procedures.
Host regular QEHS meetings with suppliers to ensure they have received and understood our client’s QEHS communications.
Conduct thorough and comprehensive investigations of incidents, including but not limited to accidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and Don’t Walk By reports, advising on changes and improvements in work practices.
Help to plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative measures identified by the hazard analysis and risk assessment process.
Outline safe operating procedures, considering all relevant hazards, and conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments to ensure control measures are effective.
Produce reports identifying supplier QEHS issues to demonstrate continuous improvement throughout the life of contracts.
Deliver and drive the agreed QEHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Continually educate on best practice QEHS standards through management reports, Toolbox Talks, alerts, newsletters, bulletins, and the creation and facilitation of training programs.
Ensure all QEHS training for staff and suppliers is appropriate and meets external agency requirements.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this role include:
Providing competent QEHS support for our client’s Asset Management suppliers operating within the Metro and Rail environments.
Ensuring implementation of the QEHS Management System relevant to our client’s Asset Management business operations, as detailed within the integrated management system.
Building trusting relationships with customers, suppliers, colleagues, and team members by consistently delivering on promises, being sensitive to the needs and feelings of others, and presenting a balanced view.
Challenging the status quo, driving, and supporting new processes and directions.
Leading with passion and commitment, embedding our client’s values into all aspects of delivery.
Promoting a positive QEHS culture among stakeholders and employees.
Providing support to assigned contract/project managers and suppliers in delivering QEHS leadership.
Conducting Behavioral-Based Safety Peer-to-Peer visits and 2nd Party audits according to a published schedule to ensure policies and procedures are properly implemented and maintaining records of inspection findings.
Reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements against the contract QEHS Plans.
Qualifications / Skill Requirements
Minimum Qualifications / Skills:
Level 3, 4, 5, or 6 Health and Safety Management Qualification.
Knowledge and experience in Behavioral-Based Safety practices.
NR and TfL ICI.
PTS.
Member of IOSH.
Knowledge & understanding of the LU and NR industries and our client’s Transport business.
Desirable Qualifications / Skills:
A relevant qualification in training.
HERS ECS.
HE Passport.
Environmental Certification.
ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor.
ISO 45001:2018 Internal and Lead Auditor.
