Service Manager

The RoleOur client, a well-established company specialising in asset management and property maintenance, is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead and manage their Service Department. Based at their Head Office in Burgess Hill, this office-based role requires occasional travel to client sites across the UK. Reporting to the Managing Director and directly managing a team of three (plus oversight of a team of engineers), you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of service and small works contracts.

  • Manage all site services within the Service Department's remit, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery and client satisfaction
  • Implement and maintain an effective planning system to oversee service operations and workflow management.
  • Oversee the completion of service and small works contracts, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Identify and address any operational inefficiencies, implementing continuous improvement measures to enhance service performance.
  • Provide detailed reports and insights to Directors, supporting strategic decision-making and operational enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the key point of contact for service-related matters and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Manage negotiations with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and ensure service continuity.
  • Ensure the timely issuing of client invoices, liaising with the Administration Team where necessary to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify and secure small works opportunities, overseeing pricing, quotations, and project commissioning where required.
  • Develop and implement strategies for refurbishment and planned maintenance work on client sites, identifying areas for service expansion.
  • Train, supervise, and develop the Service Department team, ensuring continuous professional development and high performance. Including overseeing the training and management of Apprentice Service Engineers, supporting their successful completion of the apprenticeship program.
  • Foster a positive team culture, encouraging collaboration, morale, and professional excellence within the Service Department.
  • Promote the company's strong service reputation, ensuring that high-quality standards are maintained across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures, safeguarding the wellbeing of staff, clients, and visitors.

RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in a similar role and a proven track record of managing service engineers. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills are essential. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously is highly desirable, along with the ability to present complex information effectively to technical and non-technical audiences. Ideally, you'll have experience in an Asset Management company or another service sector that conducts planned and reactive maintenance. A full UK driving licence is required.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a Group Maintenance Manager, Contracts Manager, Repairs Manager, or Technical Service Manager.
