Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Burgess Hill, £35K-£40K FTE 24 hours Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm (3 full days or 5 part time days), 28 days holiday (including bank holidays), free parking, pension.
The Role
We are delighted to be working in an exclusive capacity for an exciting opportunity that has arisen to join the team at one of the leading providers in the BES sector.
The primary role of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer is to optimise property condition and quality and to ensure the buildings are kept in a safe working condition. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and the team. You will have a strong understanding of the electrical systems in commercial buildings., with a basic understanding of plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. You will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. You will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to ensure the smooth running of internal and external projects.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to IET publications such as BS7671, associated BS such as 5266 & 5839 and company policies.
- Installation, Maintenance, and Repair: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Diagnose electrical problems, identify faults, and determine the best course of action for repairs or replacements.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and situations.
- Support and Training and Guidance: Work alongside the trainers to build and maintain 'rigs' for training purposes
- Periodic Inspection and Testing: Inspect and test all elements of electrical systems, including testing of all electrical equipment, sometimes referred to as 'PAT'.
- Costing: Provide estimates/costings as requested for new projects. Provide repair and/or replacement costs comparisons.
Requirements
You will have a basic understanding of the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. It is essential that you
- Hold a full & clean driving licence.
- Are physically fit and confident when working at heights.
- Are a qualified electrician
- Have a can-do attitude.
It is essential that you are able to show excellent attention to detail, good organizational and general administrative skills, and are strong in providing service excellence to the customer; good written communication and ICT skills. Willing to work as part of a team.

My client provides specialist training to the Building Engineering Services Sector. They have been delivering gas, plumbing and electrical apprenticeships since 2004. Apprentices on their programmes benefit from a wealth of industry experience amongst their training team, as well as extensively equipped workshop facilities and structured learning programmes.
Package
Salary Full Time Equivalent £35-£40K depending on experience
24 hours per week over 3 full or 5 part time days
Monday to Friday flexible between 8am to 5pm
