Role: Mechanical Engineer - Southern Water

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer ready to contribute to a major new joint venture in the water industry? Our client, formed by two leading engineering contractors, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team for projects within the Southern Water region. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge water infrastructure projects and play a key part in delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical engineering aspects of water infrastructure projects from initial design to installation and commissioning.
- Work closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure the integration of mechanical systems across all project stages.
- Review and approve mechanical designs, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet client requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot any mechanical engineering issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and health & safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed reports, project documentation, and progress updates to stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably within the water sector or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, design principles, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering) and professional certifications.
- Familiarity with the Southern Water Framework or similar utility projects is an advantage.
