Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
  • Location: Burgess Hill
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Working Hours: Mon to Fri, 08:45 to 16:15
  • Salary: Ā£90-Ā£95

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist school for children and young people on the Autism Spectrum. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of students with ASD and the National Curriculum, and be committed to helping each student achieve their full potential.

Day to day of the role:
  • Support individual students or groups to achieve set targets under the direction of the teacher.
  • Contribute to the planning, organisation, and delivery of educational and work-related experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and progress.
  • Participate in the induction and training of new staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Uphold school, departmental, and class group policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Assist teachers in the development and dissemination of department policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support in Teaching & Learning or equivalent qualification, or willingness to commence training within 4 months of employment.
  • A clean current driving licence is desirable.
Desirable Experience:
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly with students with special educational needs.
  • Follow instructions and work within policy guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce accurate written material.
  • Capability to use, maintain, and produce teaching resources as required.
  • Experience in carrying out physical interventions according to in-service training.
  • Ability to assess, plan, and monitor individual learning programmes.
  • Form and promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
