DCS Engineering is partnering with a market-leading manufacturing company based in the heart of Lancashire. We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in tooling (jigs, injection moulding, fixtures, moulds) to take on a diverse and challenging role, developing innovative products from concept through to final approval.

Role Overview
As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of new products, providing technical support to customers and the manufacturing base, and working to enhance product design while driving cost reduction initiatives. You will also be responsible for conducting analysis on existing products, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting product enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process new enquiries for the design department, ensuring all necessary follow-up actions (such as enquiry processing, delivery of quotations/design proposals) are adhered to.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with clients, ensuring continuous client liaison.
  • Provide design and engineering analysis support, including FEA (Dynamic, non-linear), on projects within the department and as a dedicated service.
  • Lead development of product design, from conceptual design to detailed design, and support manufacturing implementation across a wide range of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Manage projects as directed by the Design Director, ensuring compliance with industry guidelines, effective client communication, budget management, and meeting project deadlines.
  • Maintain adherence to ISO 9001 procedures within the business.
  • Utilize Pro-Engineer CAD software efficiently.
  • Perform stress and strain calculations using recognised formulae, documenting the workings clearly in MathCAD for colleague validation.
  • Utilize the company's MRP and intranet systems effectively.
  • Build a strong understanding of the company's current product line and part number systems.

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated and experienced engineer with:

  • Extensive knowledge of design methodologies, particularly in tooling (jigs, injection moulding, fixtures, moulds).
  • A proven track record in delivering product enhancements, achieving minimum standards, and improving reliability.
  • Strong team-working skills and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Pro-Engineer CAD software and experience in stress and strain analysis.
  • A keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
