Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Friday 08:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

The Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join their team. Our is a leading manufacturer specializing in the design and production of valves and fittings for liquid and gas transportation. This role offers the opportunity to work on the design and development of new products, from concept to final approval, while providing technical support to customers and the manufacturing base. The successful candidate will also have the chance to analyse existing products and identify areas for improvement in design and cost reduction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process new enquiries for the design department, ensuring all follow-up actions, including enquiry processing and proposal delivery, are completed promptly.
• Build and maintain close working relationships with clients, ensuring ongoing communication and satisfaction.
• Undertake design and engineering analysis, including FEA (dynamic, non-linear), on design projects within the department and as a dedicated service.
• Develop and detail product designs, from concept through to detailed design and manufacturing implementation, across a broad spectrum of manufacturing processes and techniques.
• Manage projects as directed by the Design Director, ensuring compliance with industry guidelines, client liaison, budget management, and timely delivery of project milestones.
• Maintain adherence to ISO 9001 procedures within our client.
• Work efficiently with Pro-engineer CAD software to design and model products.
• Perform stress and strain calculations using MathCAD, ensuring clear documentation for validation.
• Utilize the company MRP system and intranet effectively.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of current company products and part number systems.
• Deliver high-quality design outputs with minimal errors and perform modifications to existing designs as required.
• Understand industry-specific working concepts and develop new manufacturing methods and technologies.


Knowledge & Experience:
• Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering theory in mechanical engineering and product design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling systems, with experience using Pro-Engineer and MathCAD.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.
• Experience designing and manufacturing pressure equipment to recognized standards.
• Previous experience dealing directly with customers, preparing technical specifications, and presenting proposals.
• An Engineering Degree, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, is desirable.
