Payroll Officer- 9 month fixed term contract

Location: Burnley

Salary: circa £40,000- £50,000 DOE pro rata

Job Type: Part-Time- flexible hours- 3 days or 4/5 shorter days

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a business based in Burnley on a part time basis, to manage the company's payroll and issue employee pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full end-to-end payroll monthly (428 employees). Using the Opera payroll system
  • Manage the time and attendance system
  • Process attachment of earnings, court orders and salary deductions for employees.
  • RTI (Real Time Information).
  • Liaison with employees for any payroll queries.
  • Auto-enrolment and pension processing.
  • Dealing with starters/leavers, SSP/SSMP
  • Processing of P45/P46's, P60's and P11d's.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Analysing and providing timely employee and payroll information for business.
  • Delivering and developing reports for Operations Manager and Finance.
  • Calculate and process the PSA agreement for issue to HMRC and Payment.

Skills:

  • Strong Excel skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence at peer and senior levels.
  • Proficient analytical and numerical skills with the ability to read, analyse and interpret statistical data.
  • Strong in-house payroll experience, with at least two years of stand-alone payroll position.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislation, regulation, tax compliance, PAYE, SSP, SMP, and National Insurance.
