Our client, a leading supplier & manufacturer now has an excellent opportunity for a Buyer to join their busy team in Burnley.
The Buyer is responsible for the efficient procurement of goods, materials, and services across direct and indirect categories. This role ensures that all purchases meet the company’s cost, quality, and delivery standards while supporting operational needs. By managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with internal teams, the Buyer drives supply chain performance, optimises costs, and directly impacts the company’s operational efficiency and overall profitability.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Source and purchase goods, materials, and services across direct and indirect categories, ensuring alignment with business requirements and operational needs.
- Manage stock levels for raw materials, spares, and consumables to support uninterrupted operations and minimise waste.
- Develop strong, reliable supplier partnerships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and consistent delivery.
- Lead negotiations to secure favourable terms, ensuring cost savings and value for the business.
- Oversee RFQs and RFPs to identify competitive suppliers, evaluate proposals, and recommend optimal choices.
- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to align procurement with their priorities.
- Address and resolve supplier disputes, delivery delays, and internal queries efficiently.
- Track and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring they meet agreed standards and take corrective action as needed.
- Provide regular insights and data-driven recommendations to inform purchasing strategies and improve processes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in procurement across direct and indirect categories.
- Strong negotiation skills and a track record of achieving cost savings.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- CIPS Level 5 qualification or working towards it (desirable).
