SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Support - Burnley (September Start)

Romano Education is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support students with autism in an SEN school in Burnley starting September 2025. This is a long-term role for a Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism

  • Assist in delivering individual education plans (IEPs)

  • Implement communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton

  • Support students with daily classroom activities and social development

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and school staff

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in an SEN setting

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred)

  • Understanding of autism and sensory needs

  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
