Salary:£34,039 - £37,140 per annum depending on qualifications and experience

About the Role:

21 HSC are delighted to be exclusively partnering with Starley Hall Residential School at its stunning location in Burntisland and Starley Care Services, with three houses located in Fife. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Senior Children's Support Workersto join our client in enhancing the lives of children diagnosed with ASD/ADHD/Neurodiversity with experiences of developmental trauma and attachment difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about building really meaningful relationships with children and young people to enable them to live the best lives possible.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will have lead responsibility for ensuring that the care team on early and late shifts provide the appropriate levels of care and protection to our young people.

You will guide the practice of less experienced staff and be accountable for the decision making and planning during the shift.

You will work alongside other senior care workers to develop the service and play an active role in our school improvement plan.

You will undertake on-calls for our residential settings and provide additional support when required.

You will lead on delegated tasks and respond to deadlines.

You will attend all relevant meetings and work in partnership with internal colleagues from education and our therapeutic team.

You will also establish effective working relationships with external professionals and lead on key-working teams to ensure that the strategies and interventions around young people are consistently implemented.

You will work in close partnership with parents and cares so they are involved in decisions and feel consulted and included.

You will lead on the completion of key reports for internal and external purposes

You will embrace all the opportunities for training and development and ensure that this knowledge is reflected in your practice.

You will attend regular senior care worker meeting and lead on action points and when required chair team meetings and formulate minutes.

Essential Qualities

Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals, both verbally and in writing.

Leadership & Mentorship: Experience in leading a team and mentoring junior support workers.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to assess situations quickly and make informed, supportive decisions for the children's well-being.

Patience & Resilience: Capacity to manage challenging behaviors and situations with calmness and perseverance.

Understanding of Safeguarding: Knowledge of child protection laws, safeguarding procedures, and the ability to act appropriately in sensitive situations.

Cultural Sensitivity & Inclusion: Respect for diversity and the ability to work with children from various backgrounds.

Adaptability: Flexibility in managing changing priorities and different needs of children.

Team Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work in partnership with other professionals and families.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage records, schedules, and activities efficiently while ensuring a high standard of care.

Knowledge of Child Development: A deep understanding of the stages of child development and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.

Conflict Resolution: Skills to manage and resolve conflicts calmly, fostering positive relationships among children and team members.

Required Qualifications

A combination of, HNC and SVQ 3 in children & young people (Essential)
Working towards or have SVQ 4 (Desirable)
PVG and SSSC Registration
Leadership and management/supervisory qualifications also highly desirable
