Sea & Air Freight Supervisor

Full Time / Permanent / 08.30 17.30 Mon-Fri

Occasional out of hours work will be required (being on call every now and again).

Main Purpose

To further develop our Sea and Air freight offering with existing and new customers. Responsible for the teams delivery of operational activities, in accordance with targets set, to contribute to achievement of the company vision and overall business objectives, reaching targets/KPIs set year on year. Consistently perform to high quality standards.

Overall Responsibility and targets

Our Sea and Air freight operators main responsibility is the completion of important daily operation tasks predominantly for Sea and Air freight. You would carry out this role as well as overseeing the activities of other team members.Some out of hours work will be required (being on call every now and again).

Operations

Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for team are met.

Have a fundamental understanding of our operational systems.

As and when applicable, provide local/external market conditions feedback on the Sea and Air industry to the Operations Director which will feed in to the monthly operational board meeting.

Utilise Top 10 Accounts report to continually evaluate the development of your departmental client base, and the revenue distribution amounts and % of top clients, and work towards goal of balanced customer base.

Quoting, covering and inputting a range Sea and Air freight shipments on our TMS.

Work closely with the UK dept to arrange and handle more UK haulage in house for Sea and Air shipments.

Obtain prices and solutions for Sea and Air freight business for prospects of other Sales BDMs.

Use of carrier portals and other relevant software to the dept.

Close monitoring of Sea and Air shipments. Problem solving, high levels of customer service with both clients and suppliers and ensuring customer requirements are met.

Ensure effective use of our CRM on our new TMS.

Logging quotes and pro-actively chasing them to convert to shipments.

Liaising with our customs dept to complete customs documentation for Sea & Air shipments.

Proactively liaising with customers, agents and suppliers.

Service Development

Develop supplier/carrier relationships to ensure that we are getting the best rates and service.

Help to source new suppliers / carriers and form new partnerships.

Participate in the regular sales meeting and departmental team meetings.

Assist in marketing activity to promote the service by email, mailshot, calls. When time permits, making calls to our existing customers to see if they have Sea and Air freight requirements but also cross sell for other depts (European Standard Road Freight, European Express, UK and Customs).

Visit existing clients to further develop and strengthen relationships.

Skills & experience required

Good overall knowledge of the Sea and Air freight industry, quotations, pricing, facilitation and use of all incoterms.

Knowledge of Customs across sea & air freight

Knowledge of all sea & air freight areas (bulk, breakbulk, LCL, FCL containers, RoRo, general cargo)
