Prospero Teaching are working with a specialised SEN school in Burntwood who are offering a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 7-13 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.Theor focus is on providing personalised learning experiences to help our pupils grow academically, emotionally, and socially. We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our passionate team and make a positive impact on the lives of our students.The Role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support, assisting with academic learning, emotional development, and behaviour management. This role will allow you to work closely with each student, helping them build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their potential.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, focusing on both academic progress and emotional development
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised lessons, adapting resources to suit individual needs
  • Provide behaviour support using positive strategies to help students regulate emotions and behaviour
  • Help implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students
  • Maintain a calm and positive learning environment
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other staff to track progress and provide updates
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging engagement, participation, and social interaction

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, and passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs. You will need:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in an SEN or SEMH setting
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEMH needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to stay calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment
  • A commitment to promoting the emotional and social wellbeing of students
  • A relevant qualification in supporting children (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential
