Do you have the skills to mentor and support others while driving a minibus across a unique farm setting If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We are Matthew’s Enterprise Trust, a charity under the Avocet Trust Group, providing a day service that helps vulnerable adults build life and employment skills through practical, hands-on experiences.
Our six-and-a-half-acre farm in Preston offers a dynamic environment with animal care, rural crafts, carpentry, and more. We need someone like you to help keep everything running smoothly!
About the Role:
As our General Maintenance Handyperson, you’ll wear a few hats: the go-to fixer, the reliable minibus driver, and a supportive mentor to small groups of our students.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Carrying out general maintenance across the site, fixing fences, changing light bulbs, repairing equipment, and ensuring everything is safe and in good working order.
- Driving a minibus to transport clients between activities on the farm and other nearby locations.
- Mentoring small groups of up to four clients at a time, encouraging their participation in various farm-based activities.
- Assisting with farm events and activities, such as animal care, gardening, carpentry, and craft sessions.
What We’re Looking For:
- A full, clean driving licence with the necessary qualifications to drive a minibus.
- Practical maintenance skills, you’re confident with tools and know your way around small repairs.
- A friendly, patient, and encouraging nature to support clients without providing personal care.
- Experience in gardening, carpentry, or DIY would be a plus, but your positive attitude matters most.
