Heavy Diesel Engine Mechanic

This is a contract position for 6+ months

£17.00 per hour PAYE / £22.44 Umbrella

Role Overview:

We are looking for a team of Diesel Engine Fitters with a background in HGV Fitter / Heavy Plant/ Rail or Military applications for heavy diesel traction. Your primary responsibility is to perform mandatory servicing and associated repairs on large diesel traction systems. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, hydraulics, and working efficiently under pressure while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities & Activities:

Health and Safety Compliance: Take responsibility for your health and safety, as well as the safety of others, by promoting a positive health and safety culture in the workplace. Ensure that all health and safety obligations are met and that company policies are strictly adhered to.

Incident Reporting: Promptly report any safety concerns, hazards, accidents, or incidents by the end of your shift to allow thorough investigation and prevent reoccurrence.

Quality Standards Maintenance: Ensure that all activities contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the companys ISO standards (9001, 14001, and 45001).

Mechanical Expertise: Utilise your deep understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces to carry out repairs on diesel traction systems.

Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings, and apply this knowledge to repair and maintenance tasks.

Training & Mentorship: Participate in training sessions as required, and provide mentorship to trainees and apprentices when applicable.

Environmental Responsibility: Ensure that waste is disposed of correctly and in line with company policies.

Task Management: Adhere to written or verbal instructions and complete tasks within realistic timeframes.
