Electrical Controls Design Engineer
Location: Burton upon Trent
Salary: Circa 45,000 - 55,000 (depending on experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team, focusing on the design and development of bespoke electrical control systems. This position offers the chance to work in a thriving business that specializes in critical infrastructure and industrial services across multiple sectors including food, beverage, utilities, and high-security industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.

  • Specify and source components such as PLCs, relays, HMIs, and sensors to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.

  • Develop and integrate control systems with broader industrial processes, ensuring seamless functionality.

  • Produce high-quality technical documentation including BOMs, test procedures, and user manuals.

  • Work closely with clients to interpret requirements and incorporate feedback.

  • Ensure designs meet relevant regulatory and safety standards.

  • Collaborate with internal teams for smooth project delivery.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical design, control systems, or a similar engineering role within manufacturing or industrial automation.

  • Proficient in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical or similar).

  • Familiarity with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.

  • A degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.

  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
