Financial Controller sought by a world leading manufacturer of automotive components to join their team based at their $100M plant in Burton on Trent.Formally known within the business as a Financial Manager (duties equal to a Financial Controller), you will report directly to the North EMEA Finance Director with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Manage and co-ordinate the activities of the Finance team (3) ensuring all financial deliverables are achieved within stipulated timelines. Ensure that all activities are clearly defined and ensure contingency plans are in place. Develop, support and motivate the team to work in a cohesive environment.
  • Responsible for the production and presentation of Month End Reporting packs for multiple business units based at Burton Plant (JIT Production, European Service Parts & Drop Shipment).
  • Reporting of all key financial data to Plant Management, Business Unit Management and Operations groups.
  • Weekly engagement with Operational teams to support CCM (Continual Cost Management), ensuring production updates are monitored and suitable mitigation actions are taken for significant changes.
  • Prepare and load financial information for Annual Planning cycle. Liaison and support for Budget holders in the planning process to encourage accountability and promote responsibility. Supporting non-financial managers to build knowledge and understanding.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly outlook updates for Central FP&A team.
  • Attend weekly cost management and monthly management KPI meetings. Presenting the financial results to the rest of the management team, addressing any operational impacts to plant profitability.
  • Validation of Annual Standard Cost roll up, monitor and analyse interim costing information and facilitate midyear changes/updates.
  • Support Plant CI Team (Continuous Improvement) to critique and validate opportunities. Monitor roadmap activities to ensure plant fulfils annual cost saving/avoidance targets.
  • Ensure all legal regulations in Accounting and Finance are adhered to including Sarbanes Oxley legislation.
  • Audit of other internal departments in relation to SOX requirements.
  • Continually develop best practice in the finance team to eliminate non-value-add activities.
The successful Financial Controller / Financial Manager will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Fully CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified – minimum of 6 years
  • 3-5 years of experience of managing a small financial team at a senior level is essential
  • Experience in a senior accounting role within a manufacturing, Food, FMCG, or similar fast-paced environment is essential
  • Managing company accounts more than £70M turnover is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP & Hyperion (HFM / XL load & retrieve) is essential
  • Understanding of or knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) is preferred
  • IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft packages and systems and processes associated with this role
  • Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conscientious, methodical and able to work under own initiative
  • Task orientated with the ability to build effective relationships
