SF Recruitment are excited to be partnered with a leading, high growth PE-backed specialist global business operating within the engineering sector. The organisation t/o c.£30m within the UK, and £100m at Group level, with a view to growing 5x in the next 5 years. This is an exciting and pivotal time for a people-driven individual to join the organisation as their Regional Finance Manager/Head of Finance. 

About the role:

Reporting to the UK Managing Director with a dotted line to the Group CFO, you will lead the UK finance team of 5, taking ownership of overseeing financial operations, strategy and internal and external reporting within the region. This will include financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis to support the region's strategic objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key financial advisor and business partner to regional leadership and operations teams, providing financial insights to support business decisions and drive growth and profitability for the region.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including UK Operations and Group HQ.
  • Oversee the preparation, presentation and consolidation of accurate and timely financial/statutory reporting for the region, ensuring compliance with local policies and group requirements ie. GAAP, IFRS.
  • Ensure timely production, quality and analysis of monthly management accounts explaining key trends and potential risks and opportunities.
  • Lead and develop the finance support functions ie. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Systems departments. Delivering exceptional internal customer service.
  • FP&A - Lead the monthly reporting, annual budgeting, quarterly QBR and rolling forecasting process, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision making.
  • Project Accounting - Review and drive performance of all active projects, working close with engineering and project management teams to ensure that all costs are accounted for and forecasted correctly.
  • Lead the external audit process for the UK including full engagement with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, statutory requirements and internal controls, including completion of all returns ie. Quarterly VAT.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the business as a key member of the UK Leadership Team and integral support to the UK Managing Director.
  • Continuous Improvement - Drive process optimization and efficiency initiatives within the finance function,
  • Financial management of capital expenditure projects, including evaluation and monitoring.
  • Review ongoing financial performance of all active projects against budget and assist project managers to correctly account for their costs.
  • Cash Flow Management - Oversee regional cash flow and liquidity positions, optimizing working capital management and investment strategies.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, professional development and high performance.
  • Work closely with the Group CFO and Head of Group Finance to optimize performance across the Region.

About You:

  • Recognized professional accountancy qualification ie. ACCA, ACA, CIMA.
  • Proven knowledge of UK accounting principles, practices and standards (GAAP and IFRS).
  • Experience of Project-Based/Contract accounting.
  • Experience of operating at a senior level within the UK.
  • People manager with a proven track record of leading change and motivating teams.
  • High level of integrity and dependability
  • Excellent analytical and modelling skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse data to make informed and insightful business recommendations to influence the direction of the business.
