Your Purpose:
This is a leadership role designed to support the Senior EHS Manager in ensuring the Burton Brewery site operates in full compliance with EHS regulations while continuously improving safety performance. The goal is to reduce workplace accidents and incidents and foster a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
The position requires a strong leader in EHS with the skills, knowledge, and experience to implement practical, shop-floor solutions and best practices that drive continuous improvement. Familiarity with current EHS legislation relevant to operational brewery environments is essential.
The role involves working closely with operational teams to enhance their EHS capabilities, promoting safe practices through the implementation of policies, procedures, and tools. Encouraging hazard reporting and addressing unsafe behaviours will be central to improving the site's safety culture, leveraging the behavioural safety program and other initiatives.
Additionally, the role ensures that all regulatory and organisational EHS reporting requirements are completed accurately and submitted on time, meeting the expectations of relevant authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement & maintain forward-thinking EHS systems, procedures, tools & other proactive initiatives as directed by the Senior EHS Manager to ensure the brewery meets legal compliance & delivers year-on-year improvement in EHS performance by reducing workplace injuries, ill health & environmental incidents.
- Support the Department Management teams to assess safety & environmental risks, helping them identify & implement suitable technical & procedural controls to mitigate risk & maintain legal compliance.
- Work with the operational teams to build their EHS capability and encourage safe practices through the implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and tools. Develop processes to improve hazard reporting on-site & rectify unsafe practices, including the use of the proactive behavioural safety program & other initiatives to improve the safety culture on-site.
- Ensure all accidents & incidents are thoroughly investigated to identify root causes, ensuring appropriate countermeasures are implemented to prevent future occurrences, with learnings shared with all relevant stakeholders.
- Key member of the World Class Supply Chain Governance Pillar, responsible for owning, developing, and implementing site standards & building the capability of operational teams on the use of relevant EHS tools & procedures to eliminate loss on-site.
- Deliver EHS training & coaching to build the capability of the operational teams.
About You:

- NEBOSH Diploma / Degree or equivalent in Occupational Safety, Health & Environment (minimum NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent and actively working towards NEBOSH Diploma) OR an equivalent Environmental qualification.
- Minimum of 2-3 years EHS experience & good knowledge of a manufacturing environment.
- A strong knowledge of environmental impacts, health and safety risks, and experience in engineering in a manufacturing industry. Workplace injury claims management experience, EHS auditing, and experience in IPPC management.
- Time-served engineer, process industry, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage.
