Electrical & Controls Operations Manager

Derbyshire

£75-85K plus £5,460 Car Allowance + Agile Working

 

The Company

Our client is an EPC business who deliver large turnkey engineering projects for customers in the FMCG, Process and Pharmaceutical markets. The business takes responsibility for the delivery of projects from initial system design through to commissioning of project at customer site and delivery projects on a global scale for SME and large blue-chip customers.

The business has been on an incredible journey in the past decade which has seen them transform from delivering £20 million of project per year to in excess of £100 million.   The company has ambitious plans to be the world leader in their field and have invested heavily in their infrastructure, brand and staff development as part of this mission.

The business has created a new role in the business which will see someone head up both their controls and electrical engineering functions, these teams carry out all the software automation and electrical design activity for projects.   This department currently consists of 25 personnel ranging from Project Managers, Technical Leads, Lead Engineers right through to graduate engineers.   The role would suit a strategic thinker who also wants to driver operational performance excellence.

The Role

The role of Electrical & Controls Operations Manager will see you take accountability for the development of the short, medium and long term strategy for the department as well as the day-to-day operational performance of the team.  This role provides a real opportunity to shape the culture of the division and make it your own.   Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Driving the integration of electrical and controls engineering across projects
  • Creating a strategy and vision for electrical and controls engineering in the business.
  • Managing electrical design and software design resources against projects being delivered
  • Leading the recruitment, development and goal management of the team
  • Creating a collaborative approach with other department heads.
  • Ensure quality of electrical and software design work meets specified standards for projects.
  • Identifying key areas for performance improvement in the team and creating effective solutions to maximise results.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Electrical & Controls Operations Manager you will need:

  • A background in electrical design or software/controls engineering
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing a team.
  • To be able to create and execute on a vision and strategy.
  • Excellent people management skills
  • A HNC or above in a related discipline
