PASTORAL SUPPORT OFFICER REQUIRED

Are you a passionate about supporting students with their personal, social, developmental and behavioural problems? Do you thrive from building rapport with the students, which in turn helps them identify and realise their potential both inside and outside the school?

At The Supply Register we take great pride in working closely with Multi Academy Trusts across Staffordshire to recruit staff. One of our John Taylor MAT schools are looking for an eager and enthusiastic Pastoral Officer to start ASAP for a long-term role, which can become a permanent position.

The role of Pastoral Support Office includes the following but not limited to:

  • Administer and co-ordinate a referral system for students identified for support
  • Develop 1:1 and group activities for students on identified issues, such as anger management, raising self esteem and emotional literacy as appropriate
  • Create preventative strategies related to personal problems, behavioural issues, examination stress, decision making, anxiety and relationship issues
  • Attend appropriate meeting to discuss options for levels of support with parents, progress leaders and senior staff
  • Co-ordinate student support strategies with external agencies such as CAMHS, Young Carers, Social Services and School Nurse
  • Be an active member of the on-call team to respond to urgent issues requiring immediate support
  • Establish home/school links for students receiving support regarding behaviour and attendance
  • Maintain regular contact with families/carers of students in need of extra support

Requirements

  • Proven experience of working with students demonstrating challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge/experience of counselling young people of secondary school age
  • Ideally hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Good communicator with adults and young people both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
