We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician/Plant Fitter to join our team at a busy operation in the Burton-on-Trent area. The role involves working as part of a small maintenance team and supporting the commissioning and ongoing maintenance of a new state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The ideal candidate will live within 30 minutes of the depots or be willing to relocate.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience maintaining heavy plant and machinery; experience with waste and recycling equipment is advantageous.
  • Welding skills are a plus.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and proactive mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Industry-recognized certifications and time-served expertise.
Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and repair of heavy plant machinery such as shredders, crushers, screeners, trommels, and loading shovels.
  • Performing regular inspections, servicing, and ensuring equipment is safe and operational, including part fitting and adjustments.
  • Diagnosing faults using computer-based diagnostic tools.
  • Utilizing hand and power tools, welding equipment, and electrical testing tools.
  • Repairing or replacing components, reassembling machinery, and conducting functionality tests.
  • Completing daily maintenance logs, recording work carried out and time spent.
Working Conditions
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Workshop-based tasks, often involving exposure to dirt, oil, and machinery.
  • Occasional work at heights (e.g., on cranes).
  • Physical demands, including bending, stretching, and lifting heavy machinery parts.
  • Overtime, including weekend shifts as required.
Health & Safety
  • Adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Reporting any incidents, near misses, or potential risks.
Benefits and Compensation
  • Monday–Friday, 47.5 hours per week (hourly rate to be confirmed).
  • Time and a half pay for Saturday mornings when required.
  • 22 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Enrollment in a Nest pension scheme.
