Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Permanent / Bury St Edmunds / Salary £45,000 per annum
Position 1 Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our client's team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and driven individual to develop their career while working with advanced machinery in a challenging environment.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for performing both corrective and preventive maintenance on a wide range of production equipment. Your main goal will be to ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely, minimising downtime and supporting the smooth running of production processes. You will work closely with a small team to meet quality and production standards, contributing to the continuous improvement efforts of the business.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform both corrective and preventive mechanical maintenance on production equipment.
Repair production, processing, and utility-related equipment to ensure optimal operation.
Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Accurately document all repairs, maintenance activities, and any relevant details.
Ensure all paperwork is completed promptly and accurately.
Actively participate in the BOPEX (continuous improvement) programme to drive operational enhancements.
Comply with all relevant procedures, regulations, and company policies.
Report and halt any unsafe operations immediately, using the mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Provide flexibility in working hours as needed by the business, including being available for on-call work outside of regular hours.
The successful Maintenance Engineer will have relevant industry experience, preferably in heavy industrial environments involving large capacity material handling, conveying, elevating, pneumatics, hydraulics. Mechanical skills and knowledge are essential, along with a basic understanding of Health & Safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out/Safe Isolation, Working at Height, Permit to Work, Confined Space, and ATEX/DSEAR regulations."
This is a full-time permanent position 42 hrs on Panama shift including Days and Nights.

A 5% bonus based on KPI performance, related to the business's annual performance (fiscal year runs from July-June). To be eligible for the bonus, employees must complete at least 6 months of employment within the fiscal year.
