Dedicated and knowledgeable Farm Store Manager / Forman required to oversee all aspects of a successful family run, grain storage business situated between Thetford and Bury St Edmunds.

The farm has eight large modern storage units, storing a variety of commodities such as grains, oil seed rape, peas etc, on both a short- and long-term basis.

The ideal person will need to be an excellent leader and be capable of stepping in when the current owner is off site, ensuring the smooth and consistent running of the stores at all times.

This position requires a hands-on approach and would suit someone who is happy to muck in and turn their hand to most things.

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Managing the day to day running of the stores
  • Managing the stores, ensuring full TASCC compliance at all times
  • Checking store temperatures
  • Grain analysis- ensuring all grain meets the required standards (training provided)
  • Operating a loading shovel, forklift and occasional tractor driving
  • Assisting, and in time managing the dressing and drying service
  • Arranging and managing customer deliveries and recording grain intake and outtake
  • Assisting with grain trading (assured and non-assured commodities) such as feed wheat, feed barley, oil seed rape etc
  • Managing 2 - 3 members of staff
  • Recording data accurately and efficiently using in house systems
  • Ensuring farm equipment is well maintained and looked after

Hours:

  • 7am-5.30pm, Monday - Friday with weekends as and when necessary
  • Additional hours during the busier times of year
  • Full time, employed, permanent role

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of farm management practices. They must be approachable and an excellent communicator.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record / experience in a similar role within agricultural management.

Excellent references will be required as part of the selection process. Clean driving licence and use of a car essential due to remote location.
