We are seeking a Fire Safety Officer to develop and implement comprehensive fire safety strategies and training modules across all Council buildings. This role is crucial for enhancing fire safety standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and implement a corporate fire safety strategy and a fire evacuation strategy.
  • Create and update fire risk assessments and fire safety management audits for all Council buildings.
  • Prepare and deliver fire safety training to Designated Responsible Persons.
  • Advise on fire safety issues related to building structure, services, and maintenance.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external contractors, and the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service to ensure all fire safety arrangements meet current legislative requirements.
  • Conduct regular fire safety compliance checks and manage fire safety documentation and reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in fire safety and risk management, e.g., NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety & Risk Management or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in fire risk assessments and fire safety advisory roles, preferably in a local authority setting.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety, health & safety legislation, and both passive and active fire protection systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to maintain a quality information system.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of writing detailed reports and conducting training sessions.
  • Proactive approach to developing a fire safety culture and ability to manage tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
