A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to join their Housing Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide expertise to support the implementation and development of H&S policies and procedures as well as providing oversight and scrutiny of other Building Safety Teams.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Raising awareness and supporting managers to recognize and understand their H&S responsibilities and obligations.
  • Promoting health & safety throughout the business by working closely with site teams to ensure a safe environment.
  • Supporting Repairs, Neighbourhoods, and Investment teams with on-site and occupational H&S, including carrying out audits.
  • Setting up a Permit to Work system for communal areas, working with Asbestos and Fire leads to ensure process maps are designed in collaboration with Repairs and Capital Works Teams.
  • Designing and producing a plan to bring CDM in-house in collaboration with the Capital Works Team.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
  • NEBOSH or equivalent in Health & Safety.
  • Experience of working in a similar role for another Social Housing provider.
  • Experience of managing contractors.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Experience of working in a similar role in a Local Authority setting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write reports and liaise effectively with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Pro-active and transparent approach to Health & Safety.
  • Ability to manage, process, report on, and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of CDM & contractor management preferably within repairs and maintenance.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £300 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £240 per hour PAYE).
