About the Role:

Tradewind in Bury is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive primary school environment, helping to make a positive impact on the educational journey of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children's learning, a strong understanding of SEND, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure all students can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with SEND in the classroom, providing tailored assistance to meet their individual learning needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and provide one-to-one or small group support as necessary.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt lesson materials and activities to ensure inclusively.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Create a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support a strong school community.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies and ensure that all students are treated with dignity and respect.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Understanding of a variety of SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude towards supporting children with additional needs.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with children, staff, and parents.
  • A positive attitude, with a genuine passion for working in education.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEND-specific training) are desirable but not essential.
