We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the company’s Product Development Team.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will have a passion for developing new products in a fast-paced commercial environment and instinctively take ownership of problems to see solutions through to fruition.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Mechanical Design Engineer include:

  • Collaborating with the design team and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems
  • Develop mechanical design specifications that address product requirements in a reliable and cost-effective manner
  • Methodically develop and assess different concepts or approaches to achieve mechanical design goals
  • Present solutions in accordance with the peer review process (e.g. DFMEA, mechanical design review)
  • Generate and maintain product GA drawings & detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Analyse designs against relevant best practices and model / carry out design calculations to verify expected performance
  • Design tests to qualify concepts and products, and the fabricating & procuring of test equipment
  • Support Production (located in Malaysia) in setting up and maintaining supply lines and production processes for new and existing products

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience of mechanical or product design
  • Proficient in using 3D Mechanical design tools (e.g. SolidWorks)
  • Experience in prototyping
  • Comfortable and effective in a wide range of situations: detailed design at a CAD station; prototyping in the lab; conducting investigations and root cause analyses; presenting solutions to multi-disciplinary audiences
  • Good presentation and report writing skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, willing to question and challenge the status quo
  • Good attention to detail, and a commitment to getting things 'right first time’

Desired:

  • Experience in product design, utilising a wide range of manufacturing processes
  • Experience in designing parts for injection moulding, including an appreciation of tooling design
  • Experience in managing product and design configurations
