We’ve partnered with a global retail brand who are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their Head Office team in Bury. In this role, you will support the Payroll Team Leader to process payrolls across the UK and ROI, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely processing.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the completion of payrolls for a workforce of approximately 30,000 employees across multiple payroll cycles, including offshore, lunar, and monthly payrolls.
  • Investigating and resolving complex queries from employees across the business.
  • Supporting and training team members on payroll processes and addressing employee queries.
  • Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and in line with internal policies and legislative requirements.
  • Measuring team performance and identifying opportunities for process improvement, with support from management to implement changes.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders and departments to share data and reports as needed.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience managing complex and high-volume payrolls.
  • Strong understanding of tax and National Insurance rules, including the ability to calculate advances, arrears, and additional payments.
  • Knowledge of HMRC remittance administration, court orders, and employee benefits like pensions and healthcare.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A focus on employee experience and understanding in all tasks.
  • Strong organisational skills to meet deadlines individually and as part of a team.
  • Clear and effective communication skills to simplify payroll queries for employees and team members.
