Bury Council is seeking a skilled Qualified Plumber to join our team for a 6-month period. This role involves carrying out a variety of plumbing and multi-skilled work related to the repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment of council homes, public buildings, and other properties managed or worked on by Bury Council. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality service and customer care in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Undertake all plumbing and relevant multi-skilled works on buildings managed or worked on by Bury Council.
  • Perform multi-skilled repairs in accordance with the multi-skilling agreement and relevant qualifications.
  • Operate and maintain all issued plant and equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Safeguard Bury Council’s property and plant machinery.
  • Use IT systems (PDA’s or iPad) in line with the council's policies and procedures to ensure documentation is accurate and updated in real time.
  • Re-use part-used materials and dispose of waste according to recycling and sorting requirements.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments of tenant-reported repairs and communicate effectively with planners to facilitate timely repairs.
  • Ensure that vehicles provided are used responsibly, kept secure, clean, and used only for work purposes during work hours.
  • Work safely with scaffolding and adhere to established work procedures and safety methods.
  • Transport all construction material waste to recycling centers or tips as required.
  • Adhere to and operate within the Bury Council’s Health and Safety Policies, ensuring your own Health and Safety and that of others.
  • Ensure that relevant task-specific risk assessments are available and adhered to for tasks such as working at height, electrical, gas, COSHH, and manual handling.
  • Be responsible for impressed stock levels and replenishment on vans and any other items issued.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing qualification.
  • Proven experience in plumbing and multi-skilled repairs.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong diagnostic skills for assessing repairs and planning appropriate actions.
  • Commitment to recycling and efficient waste management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
