We are currently seeking a Governance Implementation Specialist to oversee the implementation of new internal governance arrangements at the Council. This initiative is a critical part of our response to a Statutory Recommendation from our external auditor concerning Value for Money arrangements. The role involves the creation and management of new governance structures and ensuring their effective operation across the organisation.
Day-to-day of the role:- Oversee the establishment of six new governance boards, developing standard ways of working within and across these boards.
- Design and manage meeting arrangements, including strategies for overseeing cross-cutting issues and the development of standard meeting products such as highlight reports, risk logs, and decision logs.
- Ensure robust systems and processes are in place to drive compliance with the new governance structures across the organisation.
- Develop Board Members to enable them to play an effective and active role in the new arrangements.
- Proven experience in governance implementation and management within a large organisation or public sector entity.
- Strong background in programme management, performance management, and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide strategic advice as well as hands-on delivery and management of governance arrangements.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in designing and overseeing meeting management arrangements.
We are seeking interim specialist support to oversee the implementation of these new arrangements. This would include:
- Overseeing the creation of six new governance boards and developing standard ways of working within and across these boards.
- Designing and overseeing meeting management arrangements including an approach tor overseeing cross-cutting issues, design and development of standard meeting products such as highlight reports, risk and decision logs etc.
- Ensuring systems and processes to drive compliance with the new governance structures across the wider organisation
- Development of Board Members so they can play an effective and active role in the new arrangements.
This role will require someone equally comfortable and experienced in both providing strategic advice and delivering and managing governance arrangements hands-on. Programme management, performance management and reporting, communication and governance skills and expertise are crucial.
We are seeking a full time engagement for a period of 6 months. There would be an expectation that the appointed individual would be on-site in Bury at least two days a week.
