Dovetail Recruitment are proud to be working with an innovative business in Bury who are recruiting for a new Product Developer to join them, and work across their main categories of health and beauty, and bags.

You will need to understand the discount retailer market, product trends and research, and you will be talking to customers directly and visiting stores.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research, identify and drive new product development and product upgrades against a plan.
  • Assess competitors’ products to identify important features and compare performance with equivalent company products.
  • Lead on all projects for the discount and license division. Own the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch.
  • Schedule workflow, approve product samples and assure quality standards through all stages of new product development.
  • Delegate projects to the product assistant, manage and work with them to ensure they are supporting effectively.
  • Deliver products and ranges that are targeted and exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage our critical paths and ensure communication is at the front of mind.
  • Write clear briefs and communicate efficiently with our production teams globally.
  • Arrange samples, costs, and presentations for customer meetings and present to customers/ attend customer meetings.
  • Review supplier quotes to ensure competitive and fair pricing.
  • Collaborate with sales to analyse product costs and margins, suggest and negotiate target prices for product components or the final product to align with profitability goals. Conduct cost-benefit analysis to ensure product features justify the cost quoted.
  • Develop and engage with the wider team on new product concepts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience developing products for discount retailers such as Home Bargains, B&M and Poundland
  • Trend focused, and able to draw on competitor research
  • Keen to learn new categories and explore new product ranges
