We are working with Bury Council to find a Receptionist/Cashier on a temporary basis.Job Type: Temporary, Full Time hours Mon-FriLocation: BuryHourly rate: £12.26 per hour.

We are looking for a dedicated Receptionist/ Cashier to be the first point of contact for all visitors, providing a high-quality, efficient, and courteous service. This role is crucial in managing reception, admissions, and information services, ensuring compliance with government legislation and council policies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Resolve customer inquiries at the first point of contact to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Direct customers to other services accessible via the freephone and online, providing digital assistance where required.
  • Process all enquiries to the required performance standards, complying with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, and the council’s requirements on confidentiality.
  • Provide additional cover for the switchboard as needed.
  • Manage cash transactions and perform cash reconciliation accurately.
  • Operate and maintain computerised databases to manage visitor information effectively.
  • Manage office equipment and retail materials, ensuring their correct usage and maintaining records as required.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a healthy and safe environment for both staff and the public.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills (written verbal and numeric).
  • Experience of cash handling and cash reconciliation and of assisting members of the public over the telephone and in person.
  • Experience in the use of computerised data bases.
