Learning Support Assistant

85 to 95 per day

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday - 8:20am to 3:45pm

The School:

Value Education is working with an SEN School in Bury currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work with students aged 3 to 19 years old. The students in the settings that you will be working in will have a variety of needs including ADHD, ASD, Hyper mobility issues, early childhood trauma and English as an additional language.

The role:

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who can provide support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs. The ideal Learning Support Assistant will be an individual who is nurturing with the ability to build rapport quickly and establish great relationships with pupils. In this role, every day will be different and being able to adapt is an important skill that is required. We are searching for individuals who engage well with the pupils and have strong behaviour management qualities. Pupils in the school face daily challenges therefore you must be able to build rapport with pupils and support them in their concentration and engagement in lessons. Each day will be different from the last therefore being adaptable is very vital.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building nurturing and meaningful relationships with pupils with SEND
  • Be comfortable working with small groups to support pupils with their learning.
  • Experience and a good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice
  • Understand the different requirements of individual SEN and adapt accordingly
  • A passion for education and for making a difference in education
  • Additional skills such as Sport, Music and Art are a bonus

Requirements:

  • An understanding of working with students with SEND
  • Knowledge and understanding of vocational education and a passion for supporting outdoor learning
  • Strong communication skills when engaging with pupils and an understanding of behaviour patterns when experiencing complex needs and trauma
  • Experience working with children with additional needs is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, colleagues, and parents effectively.
  • A good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice.
