- Provide a professional social work service to children in need and their families in accordance with the principles of the Children Act
- Undertake enquiries and assessments of children who are considered to have possible suffered or who may be likely to suffer significant harm. Make applications with the appropriate management and legal advice for Orders to safeguard children under the Children Act.
- Work in partnership with service users in a variety of settings including the office, the service user’s own premises and any other suitable setting for social work practice.
- Prepare written reports of a professional standard for use in a variety of settings, including Court proceedings.
- Act as a representative of the Local Authority at court, give verbal evidence at Public and Private proceedings and give account of Local Authority actions; provide written evidence for the courts when required.
