ASD Specialist Teacher - SEMH School, Bushey

We are seeking a passionate and experienced ASD Specialist Teacher to join the team at a supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Bushey. The school provides an exceptional learning environment for students with SEMH needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and is committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential both academically and personally.

About the Role

As an ASD Specialist Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons to meet the needs of pupils with ASD and SEMH.
  • Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including SENCOs, therapists, and support staff, to implement personalised learning strategies.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and confidence.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, ensuring regular communication with parents and carers.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching students with ASD and/or SEMH in a school or specialist setting.
  • Strong knowledge of ASD-specific strategies, such as PECS, TEACCH, or social stories.
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
