Your new schoolHays are recruiting a Welsh-Speaking Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant for a Welsh-Medium Primary School in Caerphilly County, which provides a fantastic standard of Welsh-Medium education for their pupils aged 3 to 11 years old. The role will involve supporting a year 4 student with additional learning needs on a 1:1 basis. The pupil requires educational and emotional support and possesses some aspects of challenging behaviour. The school is well-regarded and has a fantastic teaching staff who thrive to support the students to the best of their abilities. The team are eager to welcome new, passionate, and eager members of staff and are more than willing to offer support, advice, and guidance.Your new role.The role is confirmed long-term for an immediate start working 5 days a week. However, there are similar part-time positions available. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting a year 4 student with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
  • Working through the medium of Welsh.
  • Offering educational and emotional support.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the pupils.
  • Working as part of a close-knit and efficient team with other members of the teaching staff.
  • Assisting teachers as they implement their creative lesson plans.

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 - 3 years and must be able to speak Welsh. Some of the key attributes needed for this role include enthusiasm, dedication, and a hardworking nature. Additional skills and attributes include empathy, calmness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships. Experience of working with additional learning needs is desirable but not required. The school are also eager to support people who need to refresh their Welsh language skills.
