Role Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to deliver engaging lessons in Religious Education (RE) and Equality & Diversity. The ideal candidate will have a passion for promoting inclusive practices and educating students on the importance of diversity, social justice, and human rights. This role is vital in ensuring that students not only learn about religious and cultural beliefs but also understand the significance of equality in today’s world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality RE lessons, ensuring a diverse range of religious traditions, beliefs, and practices are covered.
  • Teach Equality & Diversity lessons that promote understanding, respect, and inclusion within the school community.
  • Create a supportive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued.
  • Encourage critical thinking and dialogue about social justice, equality, and the role of religion in society.
  • Work with students to promote awareness of key issues related to equality, diversity, and human rights.
  • Support students in their personal development, fostering empathy, resilience, and tolerance.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement strategies for promoting inclusion across the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support where necessary.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities that support equality and diversity initiatives in school.
  • Attend additional training provided by the school to develop your skillset and knowledge of the subjects.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and experience in teaching RE.
  • A strong understanding of the national curriculum for RE and equality and diversity education.
  • Passionate about promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
  • An advocate for social justice with a commitment to providing equal opportunities for all students.
  • Ability to differentiate lessons and provide tailored support to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Previous experience in teaching Equality & Diversity is desirable but not essential.
  • A proactive and collaborative team player who contributes positively to the school community.
