Your new schoolHays are recruiting for a job as a Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant in Caerphilly County for a Special Educational Needs School which caters for pupils aged 3-19 with a variety of additional learning needs, as well as related aspects of challenging behaviour. The school is much loved and respected within the local community and is known for providing a high standard of supportive care and education for enroled students. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with passionate co-workers, as well as within a school which looks to recruit permanent members of staff from their agency workers. The role itself shall consist of working with small groups of students aged 6-10 with ASD, similar learning difficulties, and related aspects of challenging behaviour. You may also be expected to support 1:1 on an ad-hoc basis when a student requires additional care. Your new roleThe role is confirmed long-term and available immediately, working 1-3 days a week. However, the school are also looking for is full-time staff. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:

  • Working with small groups of students aged 6-10 with a variety of additional learning needs and related aspects of challenging behaviour.
  • Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and enjoyable learning environment for students and staff alike.
  • Supporting students to engage in their work and stick to their daily routines and patterns.
  • Assisting teachers when implementing their lesson plans by ensuring that the children are engaged and cared for throughout.
  • Working closely as part of a quick, efficient, and consistent team with other members of the teaching staff to provide the best care possible for the pupils.

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering within a school over the course of the last 2 - 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include empathy, patience, and calmness. Further desired traits include responsiveness, problem-solving skills, commitment, and a high degree of motivation.A desired qualification is to be Team Teach trained.
