Mechanical Fitter – Caldicot

Location: Caldicot

Contract: 3 Months

Rate: £17 p/h (PAYE) plus holiday pay £2.05p/h, £22 p/h (LTD or Umbrella)

Shifts: Monday to Friday, Days (Flexible start time from 6am, with potential for overtime on Saturdays and Sundays)

This leading company, based in South Wales, designs and manufactures marine and saltwater cleaning and de-salinisation systems used in ballast water treatment for ships. Their cutting-edge technology helps ensure ships comply with environmental regulations and protect marine ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble skids from scratch, following engineering and layout drawings.
  • Fit and bolt in components such as pumps, valves, fans, and other mechanical systems.
  • Install pipework, including pneumatic push-fit, PVC, and metal piping.
  • Insert and mount cells and control panels, ensuring all mechanical components are correctly fitted.
  • Perform some fabrication work where necessary.
  • Ensure all components meet quality and specification standards.

The Successful Candidate Requires:

  • Mechanical fitting experience, ideally with assembly or process systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with pipework assembly (pneumatic, PVC, and metal pipework).
  • Knowledge of mechanical assemblies, such as pumps, valves, and control panels.
  • A time-served or apprenticed-trained background in mechanical fitting.
  • Previous experience in a process engineering environment would be beneficial.
