  • The Design Engineer will collaborate with the Design Manager and Housing Technical Manager to produce quality designs for specific contracts. Responsibilities include preparing calculations and designing vessels according to PD5500, EN, and ASME codes, as well as ensuring compliance with the PED and Pressure Equipment (Safety) regulations. Candidates should have an HNC or above in Engineering or equivalent experience, along with experience in an engineering environment and proficiency in 3D parametric CAD systems. Pressure vessel experience and knowledge of pressure vessel codes are also required. The salary for this position is competitive, and candidates should ideally have several years of relevant experience.

The successful Design Engineer will be responsible will be to production quality and bespoke designs for specific contracts in collaboration with the Design Manager and our Housing Technical Manager.

Prepare calculations and design of all vessels based on PD5500; EN and ASME codes of practice

Make a selection of suitable weld types and preparation details

Ensure that designs meet the requirements of the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) and Pressure Equipment (Safety) regulations

Design vessel and components using Creo 3D CAD software

Operate the ISO 9001 control and conformance of design department function, issue control and drawing register

Interact and communicate with other teams for cost effective and practical vessel design and the improvement of the products

Produce innovative and novel new product designs, and to assist in the development of existing products

To be successful in this role of Design Engineer we would love to speak to anyone who has experience of:

  • HNC or above in Engineering or equivalent experience (i.e. a time served apprentice)
  • Experience of working in an engineering environment
  • Drawing/draughtsman experience
  • 3D parametric CAD system experience
  • Pressure vessel experience and pressure vessel code experience
  • Experience of basic mechanical and design principles
