Our client, a leading provider in the defence sector, is currently seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join their team. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in high-impact projects within the defence industry. The role is based in Barrow, Frimley, Filton, or Weymouth, with occasional travel to other sites, including Milton Keynes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading systems engineering activities related to power electronics and power systems.
- Developing, maintaining, and overseeing the system architecture for submarine solutions.
- Managing requirements and ensuring compliance with electrical and functional safety standards.
- Creating and validating designs for electrical systems including 48Vdc power supplies and battery technology.
- Ensuring electrical systems are compliant with relevant standards and safety protocols such as IEC 61508.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
- Maintaining thorough documentation of systems engineering activities.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in systems engineering, particularly within the defence sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design, including 48Vdc power supplies and battery technology.
- Understanding of various electrical cable and connector types.
- Familiarity with electrical and functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508 and intrinsic safety protocols.
- Proficiency in requirements management and the use of systems engineering tools like DOORS and Enterprise Architect.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
Contract Details:
- 12-month contract
- Location: Barrow, Frimley, Filton, Weymouth, with occasional work in Milton Keynes
- Hybrid work model: 1-2 times a month on-site
