We are a very well established and successful company who are one of Europe's leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector. We employ over 250 staff in the UK and are seeking a Housing Component Manufacturing Team Leader to join our team. Reporting to the Housing Production Manager, you will be responsible for the people, procedures, and processes within the Department. Managing, motivating and engaging the team of 8 staff to meet business targets and setting the example by creating a positive and respectful environment within the team.
The role would suit candidates with proven people management skills. You may have worked within a larger organisation where you have been a Team Leader or Supervisor or you may currently be working within a smaller company and so have gained the job title of a Manager. You should have experience within a manufacturing, engineering or workshop environment in the metalwork or similar engineering sector.
We can offer a salary up to £43k depending on your experience plus annual bonus profit share scheme. You will be working Monday-Thursday 8.30am-5pm and Friday 8.30am – 2.30pm. The role will include the following responsibilities to ensure your team carr out the below: -
• Ensure final product meets quality standards and customer specifications
• Raising of NCN’s of rejected products
• Preparation (picking and cutting) of materials for subcontract operations and ensure all material issuing operations are completed
• Carrying out works order operations as detailed
• Component and sub-assembly fabrication (drilling, cutting, rolling, grinding, spot welding, etc.) to meet set deadlines
• Notify Housing Projects team of any issues that may prevent any set deadlines being met either for internal or subcontract work
• Completion of works orders and location (both physically and on EFACS)
• Stock location and re-location of all fabrication components, maintaining traceability and location control at all times
• Management of scrap metal for Housing Department
• Regular stock checking and stock query resolution, control of offcuts and scrap materials
• Involvement in equipment maintenance
• Support of related teams in their problem-solving activities
• Area shutdown at the end of the shift
• Complete all documentation required by the Company administrative system accurately and on time
• Involvement in Total Preventative Maintenance.
• Adherence and compliance to ISO standards
• Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are always maintained in and around the production area
• Completion of mandatory company Learn courses
• Adherence to health and safety requirements
• Other tasks as required by the Line Manager


And the following team leadership responsibilities: -
• Lead by setting a good example - behaviour consistent with our Behaviours and Values.
• Act as an interface between the team and others in the business
• Clear delivery of key messages to the team (including explanation of any goals, plans and roles)
• Regularly reporting both to own team and upwards to their line manager
• Reputation management
• Manage recruitment with the assistance of HR
• Ensure a successful induction process for new starters
• Objectives/Goal Setting:
• Clearly communicate required tasks, agree deadline and monitor achievement
• Set and agree SMART objectives for individuals/team and monitor performance against these
• Manage and conduct appraisal process with all permanent team members Provide regular constructive feedback to individuals and the team regarding their performance
• Address performance issues quickly, candidly and constructively
• Manage capability and conduct issues with the assistance of HR
• Identify training and development opportunities for the team
• Absence management with company policy; to include sickness and annual leave
• Promote and drive continuous improvement within the teams
• Responsible for HSE compliance and improvement activities for the Team.
• Ensure mandatory company Learn courses are completed on time

To be successful as our Housing Component Manufacturing Team Leader you must have experience working within an engineering workshop and ideally working with metal work. It is essential you can demonstrate supervisory or people management skills including performance management, you must also be organised with strong time management skills, have good communication and interpersonal skills as well as commercial acumen, be trustworthy with the ability to influence others whilst mentoring and coaching team members.
You should have experience of an engineering workshop and drawings along with Experience of machine shop and/or press cell and/or sheet metal. Demonstrable supervisory or people management experience with Experience of employee performance management. Any additional experience of Stock management experience (i.e. booking in and out of parts), Management of Total Preventative Maintenance, Experience of working to ISO standards and a Forklift truck licence (preferably Reach) are advantageous but not essential.
