Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Control Room Shift Engineer to join a leading data centre. We are looking for experienced individuals to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical systems, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to high safety standards. This position is well-suited for candidates with a background in the Armed Forces or those with experience in a critical environment, particularly within data centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage critical infrastructure systems from the control room, including HVAC, electrical, and BMS/EMS systems.
  • Respond to alarms and critical incidents, performing swift and accurate assessments and resolutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections, testing, and fault-finding on systems to ensure optimal functionality and uptime.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and shift reports in accordance with compliance and operational standards.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
  • Participate in training to stay current on safety protocols, operational procedures, and technical updates.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Background in Armed Forces or similar, with experience in critical or control room settings.
  • Knowledge of critical data centre systems such as power distribution, generators, UPS, fire safety, and cooling systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle emergencies and make timely decisions.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
  • Electrical or mechanical qualifications are an advantage.
